Coronation Street has shared a dramatic new trailer that shows Sarah Barlow’s long-awaited court case for killing Theo Silverton.

Sarah was arrested in July after murdering Theo, who had been abusing his husband Todd, after viewers learned in June she was his killer.

In flashback scenes to the night of his death in April, viewers saw Sarah kill Theo with a scaffolding pole after confronting him about his violent abuse of her friend Todd Grimshaw.

Now after months behind bars on remand, Sarah will get the chance to fight for her freedom as she tries to convince the jury that she acted in self defence.

The atmospheric clip shows a terrified Sarah in the dock whilst a voiceover is heard calling her a ‘cold blooded murderer’ and a frightened Sarah says ‘I think we need to prepare for the worst.’

Tina O’Brien said: ‘Sarah is absolutely terrified, she has been desperate for this day to come but the reality of being brought up from the cells and standing in the dock is overwhelming.

‘As the prosecution case is laid out she is not sure things will go her way.’

Viewers will have to tune in to see if Sarah walks free, with her court case set to air from Wednesday, October 14.

Theo’s death sparked a massive whodunnit that became the biggest mystery on the Corrie cobbles in months.

The possible suspects were revealed to be Todd Grimshaw, Gary Windass, Summer Spellman, George Shuttleworth, Christina Boyd and Danielle Silverton.

Each character had a motive to murder Theo, following his relentless abuse of partner Todd for months.

His body was found by a horrified Betsy Swain in the backyard of the corner shop during Corrie’s first-ever flash-forward episode.

In June, viewers finally learned the identity of his killer, as during a tense dinner party, Maria Connor confronted her partner Gary and his ex Sarah by accusing them of having an affair.

In reality, it was revealed that Gary had helped Sarah to cover up Theo’s death, after she hit him with a scaffolding which led to him plunging to his death.

Actress Tina shared that it was a challenge keeping the fact that she was Theo’s killer a secret, saying: ‘I’ve literally been a big bag of nerves. It’s been so difficult, I told my mum and I just recently told Scarlett and my son Beau. Yeah.

‘It’s really hard having to keep it quiet for that long, especially when you’re online, you’re seeing all the chat on social media, everyone’s saying I think it’s such a body, I think this, and I think that.

‘Actually filming these scenes the weeks after have been the hardest thing I’ve ever filmed because I felt like my face looked guilty constantly and I was like, everyone’s going to know it’s me instantly. So that’s been really difficult.

‘I was really shocked, but for me, personally, I completely understand how it happened, why it happened. For me to get into her character and her head, I feel like, in that moment, she didn’t feel like she had any other choice.’

Tina O’Brien, who plays Sarah, has been on the soap since 1999 as part of the iconic Platt family.

She made her debut in 1999 and was on-screen for nine years before taking a break in 2007.

After eight years away, she made her highly anticipated return in 2015 and has been at the centre of a string of big storylines.
