Bukom Banku Finally Arrested in Bawku After a Seven-Month Manhunt
A man identified as Bukom Banku has been arrested in Bawku after reportedly spending several months evading authorities over allegations that he absconded with gold worth more than GHΒ’800,000.
According to reports, Banku had been entrusted with transporting the gold to a buyer in Manso-Adubia. However, he allegedly failed to complete the delivery and instead disappeared with the consignment. The matter was subsequently reported to the police, prompting authorities to launch a search for him.
The investigation continued for several months before law enforcement officers received information that helped them establish his whereabouts. He was eventually traced and arrested in Bawku, reportedly the hometown of his father.
Preliminary findings indicate that some of the proceeds from the allegedly stolen gold may have been used to acquire motorbikes and tricycles intended for commercial transport operations. Investigators also believe that another portion of the money was used to finance the construction of a modest house.
Authorities are said to have recovered a substantial amount of the assets believed to have been acquired with the missing funds. However, efforts remain underway to locate and retrieve the outstanding amount as investigators continue examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged theft.
Bankuβs arrest brings an end to the prolonged search for him, but the police investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are expected to pursue the recovery of any remaining assets while gathering further evidence to support the case.
