Yami Gautam urges media to not enhance or manipulate her images using AI

National award-winning actress Yami Gautam has urged people to refrain from using AI to alter or enhance her photographs from public appearances, stressing the importance of consent. Her comments come amid growing concerns over AI-generated celebrity content, including the recent Chuttamalle row involving Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor.

On X, Yami wrote, “A sincere request to the media. Please refrain from using AI to alter or enhance my photographs from public appearances. Kindly use images in their original form. Altering or manipulating an individual’s image or likeness using AI should not be done without their knowledge and consent. Thank you in advance for respecting my request!”

Her request comes amid Jr NTR’s stern warning after the Chuttamalle AI row. Janhvi Kapoor was yet again targeted with a disturbing AI-generated video of her song Chuttamalle from Devara, in which she appeared alongside Jr NTR. Reacting to the visuals, NTR penned a strong note, warning of legal action. He also made an earnest plea to other netizens, urging them not to watch, share or engage with such content. As he shared the post, Vijay Deverakonda and Chiranjeevi also supported him, calling for strict action.

Set in Meerut, the film revolves around a seemingly perfect new bahu, an eccentric family, and an unexpected secret. We are introduced to the world of the Awasthi family, where the arrival of their new bahu, Mohini (played by Yami), begins to raise some questions. What starts as some simple wedding rituals soon gives way to something much harder to explain.

Yami talked about playing Mohini, saying, “What drew me to Mohini is that she is never quite what you expect. There’s a warmth and familiarity to her, but also a mystery that slowly reveals itself.”

“Nayyi Navelli gave me the opportunity to explore a character that moves seamlessly between family, humour, emotion, fantasy and action, while still staying rooted at heart. It was a wonderful experience working with Balaji sir, Aanand sir, Himanshu, the team at Colour Yellow and Amazon MGM Studios. I’m really excited for audiences to meet Mohini this Dussehra and discover her for themselves,” she went on to add. The film is set to release in theatres on October 16.
