Wetang’ula Falls Off Podium While About to Address a Crowd in Bungoma, Kibet Rushes to Help

A tense moment was witnessed in Bungoma County after Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula lost balance while climbing onto a podium to address residents.

Wetang’ula was attending a church service and fundraising event at St. Peter’s Mungore ACK Church in Bumula Constituency, where he joined worshippers for the service before taking part in the fundraising drive.

The moment came as the Speaker was making his way up to the podium to deliver his address. He appeared to miss a step, briefly losing his balance.

Farouk Kibet, who was nearby, quickly moved to assist Wetang’ula, helping him regain his balance and avoid what could have been a more serious fall.

The incident briefly caught the attention of those at the event before the programme continued.

During the Bungoma event, Wetang’ula and other leaders also used the gathering to rally support for President William Ruto’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The leaders urged residents to maintain their support for Ruto as they highlighted the government’s development agenda and appealed for continued unity ahead of the next election.
