The Labour Party (LP) in Ebonyi State has urged the Minister of Works and former governor of the state, Senator David Umahi, to focus on governance and infrastructure delivery rather than what it described as divisive political rhetoric against former Anambra State Governor and presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi.

The party also cautioned Umahi against personal attacks on Obi, urging him to allow Ebonyians to freely make their political choices in the 2027 elections.

The LP made the call in a statement jointly signed by its 2027 governorship candidate, Comrade Chief Splendour Oko Eze; candidate for Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency, Dr Ezeh Emmanuel Ezeh; Ebonyi South Senatorial candidate, Chief Henry Udeh; and Ebonyi North Senatorial candidate, Chief Ogbodo Nwede Mitchell Nwabueze Michael.

Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has said the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, prayed for him and expressed confidence in his “triumph.”

Sowore disclosed this in a post on his X account on Sunday, after attending a National Thanksgiving Service at the RCCG headquarters in Ebute Metta, Lagos.

He said he attended the service at the invitation of the church, alongside the National Chairman of the AAC, Pastor Samuel Ajeigbe.

According to Sowore, he held a private meeting with Adeboye after the service, during which the cleric offered to pray for him.

“After the service, I had a private meeting and conversation with the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, who offered to pray for me,” Sowore said

The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has said God and the people are crucial to the success of any candidate seeking to win an election.

The revered monarch stated this when the All Progressives Congress candidate for Oredo Federal Constituency, Paddy Iyamu, sought his royal blessing on Saturday ahead of his campaign for the House of Representatives seat.

The meeting took on a father-and-son dimension, with the Oba receiving Iyamu warmly in keeping with the traditional values of the Benin Kingdom.

During the visit, the monarch offered prayers and blessings for the candidate, saying, “it shall be well with you during the campaign”, while commending Iyamu for his humility and respect for the customs and traditions of the kingdom.
