Suryavanshi becomes youngest Indian Asian Games gold medallist

India’s teenage cricket sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi has created another record by becoming the youngest Indian to win a gold medal at the Asian Games.

Suryavanshi was just 15 years, six months and six days old when India won the men’s cricket gold medal after defeating Pakistan by 19 runs in the final.

He broke the previous record held by Indian shooter Saurabh Chaudhary, who won gold at the 2018 Asian Games at the age of 16 years, three months and nine days.

However, Chaudhary remains the youngest Indian to win an individual Asian Games gold medal, as Suryavanshi achieved his record as a member of India’s cricket team.

In the final against Pakistan, Suryavanshi scored 15 runs off nine balls, including two sixes.

India posted 211 runs, while Pakistan were restricted to 192 despite a brilliant innings from Hasan Nawaz, who scored 96 off 51 balls.

India’s 19-run victory secured their second consecutive men’s cricket gold medal at the Asian Games.

The achievement adds another milestone to Suryavanshi’s rapidly rising cricket career.
