SNGPL Rawalpindi Region revises gas load-management schedule

Gujar khan  –  The SNGPL Rawalpindi Region has revised the gas load-management schedule for domestic consumers following a protest by women from villages surrounding the Ahdi oil and gas fields against unscheduled suspension of gas supply. A large number of women had gathered near the Sales Metering System (SMS) installed in the vicinity of the Ahdi oil and gas fields and staged a peaceful protest, demanding uninterrupted gas supply during key household hours. The protesters said sudden and unscheduled suspension of gas supply was forcing school-going children to leave for school without breakfast and causing serious inconvenience to households. The protest and demands of the women subsequently gained attention on social media. Officials of SNGPL Rawalpindi Region initially said the demands were being considered. Later, on Saturday morning, a senior SNGPL officer confirmed to this correspondent that the management had revised the load-management schedule and would ensure gas availability to domestic consumers in Gujar Khan and adjoining areas connected with the Rawalpindi regional network. According to the revised schedule, gas will be available to domestic consumers from 5:30am to 9:00am, 11:00am to 2:00pm and 5:00pm to 9:00pm. SNGPL officials also appealed to consumers to refrain from using generators, compressors and other devices to illegally draw gas from the distribution system.

They warned that strict action would be taken against consumers found involved in such practices.

Meanwhile, residents of Gujar Khan and surrounding villages expressed satisfaction over the revision of the gas supply schedule and said it would provide relief to households, particularly during morning and evening hours.
