‘Saiyaara’ director Mohit Suri revisits ‘attic of memories and emotions’ for next project
Filmmaker Mohit Suri has returned to a place closely associated with some of the most memorable melodies of his career as he begins work on his next project.
Mohit took to Instagram Stories on Sunday to share a glimpse of a recording studio, posting a picture of an empty recording setup and a track currently being developed on a digital audio workstation.
Sharing the moment, the filmmaker wrote, “Working on my next and going back to the room where so many unforgettable melodies came to life. Not just a recording studio for me! An attic of memories and emotions, thank you all for the music. Hope this one is as special.”
Music has remained a defining element of Mohit’s filmmaking career spanning nearly two decades. His latest release, Saiyaara, produced by Yash Raj Films, emerged as a major box-office success, crossing the Rs 500 crore mark worldwide, while its music became one of the film’s biggest talking points.
The success also brought renewed attention to Mohit’s ability to deliver hit musical albums, a legacy he has carried through films including Aashiqui 2.
Speaking to IANS after the success of Saiyaara, Mohit had said he preferred not to be weighed down by expectations surrounding his music. He recalled facing similar pressure while making Aashiqui 2, given the legacy of the original Aashiqui.
“I think what you need to do is focus on what you need to do right now. You need to make music for today,” he had said.
Mohit also credited YRF for giving him the freedom to follow his creative instincts, particularly as the project brought together multiple composers and lyricists.
“My producers, they saw my sense and let me be. That takes a lot of thought and a lot of grace to do that,” he had said.
With his latest studio visit, Mohit appears to be returning to the same creative space that has long shaped the musical identity of his films.
