Passenger shares shocking video of airport staff throwing luggage as bags left broken

The short clip shows staff unloading the baggage from the plane's hold

A passenger shared shocking footage of her case being tossed roughly onto a trolley from the plane's hold, leaving the case cracked.

The footage was shot from inside the plane's cabin as passengers waited to be allowed to alight into the airport.

Outside, ground crews had got to work, with a group of people having installed a conveyer belt to the plane's hold, where bags where being unloaded.

Once at the bottom, the bags were met by the attendants, with one then grabbing them from the conveyor belt, before putting them onto a trolley to be taken to reclaim.

But the passenger was left shocked at the way in which the employee had handled her luggage, picking it up and tossing it onto the waiting trolley, where another attendant steadied it to make sure sure it was stacked up.

The passenger, who goes by @SpiffingSarah on X, shared the footage, along with several captions explaining what had happened, and speaking to easyJet directly, asking: "I'd like to know please, within how much time can we find a solution please?"

She went on to explain that she was able to get them handling her bag specifically as she had noticed that other bags were being handled in a similar way.

"I filmed because I saw the way they unloaded the first suitcases and I found it abnormal. Besides, I have the video of the unloading of other luggage," she wrote.

The passenger went on to explain that she was not out to 'get employees fired', but just wanted to clarify why this was allowed to happen.

"I'm not trying to get employees fired; you don't fire someone for that in France," she wrote.

Some people took to the comments defending the employee, and saying that he handles a lot of suitcases, but the poster wasn't convinced, saying she didn't think this was an excuse for handling it roughly.

"Your 'he moves thousands of them a day' sorry but no," she wrote on social media. "If tomatoes were picked like that, you'd pay €20 per kg for them because they'd be smashed. In short."

She also explained that she had had the suitcase for 10 years, and 'before the trip it hadn't been impacted'. A picture she shared on the post shows it with a crack on the bottom.

easyJet does not handle the baggage directly, using another company for this service on its flight, and a spokesperson for the airline said they are working with the company that provides ground handling.

A spokesperson for easyJet told LADBible: “We are very sorry to see the damage on Ms Lagriffoul’s suitcase.

"We know how crucial it is for customers to feel confident that their items are well cared for when travelling with us and so we are looking into this with our third-party ground handling provider at the airport, as this would not be the level of care we expect for our customer’s luggage.

"On the rare occasion a bag is damaged, customers are able to submit a claim and we are in touch with Ms Lagriffoul to apologise and offer further assistance.”
