Naqvi says Sohail Afridi sabotaged opposition-government negotiations
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has accused Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi of derailing negotiations, saying the opposition’s negotiating team had engaged in talks sincerely and a strong agreement had been reached.
Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, Naqvi appreciated the members of the opposition negotiating committee for their efforts, saying they had approached the talks in good faith and managed to prepare a “very good agreement.”
He said the proposed agreement was also presented to President Asif Ali Zardari for review, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif remained fully briefed on the developments throughout the process.

Naqvi said, unfortunately, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi later sabotaged the negotiations. According to the interior minister, Afridi rejected the draft after it had been prepared, stating that they would not accept it.
Questioning the approach, Naqvi said that if all decisions were ultimately to be taken by the KP chief minister, he should have personally taken part in the negotiations instead of leaving the process to the opposition committee.
