Mashita’s family finds comfort in knowing murder suspect’s identity
Boitumelo Mashita’s family says they find comfort in knowing the identity of the person behind her murder.
The slain 23-year-old was buried in Thembisa, Ekurhuleni on Sunday.
Mashita was shot and killed allegedly by her estranged husband on Monday.
He was later found dead inside his vehicle in Midrand, Johannesburg later that day.
She was the 12th woman to be murdered in the East Rand since July this year.
Mashita also says they will remember her soft heart, bubbly personality and kind spirit.
Her cousin Thobile Mbatha says her sudden departure has hurt the family.
Mbatha says, “She was a person who you’d enjoy being around with, she was very kind, very open to so many people. So as a family we’re so touched because we’ve lost a loved one because it happened so unexpectedly so to us it hurts that we’ve lost a soul that we will find comfort, be open with and talk to. One thing we will remember about her, she had a soft heart.”
Mashita’s Manager Tholakele Miya described her as a reliable worker.
Miya says, “Boitumelo was a loving child, most of all she was one of the teachable, she will listen and do what you ask her to do. The smile, I’ll always remember her with a smile, always early at work, so really I’ll miss her too much.”
She adds, “This was really bad, I think let’s ask God to help us because it seems we always talk about the girl children, we don’t talk about the boy, so I think we have to go back to the roots.”
