Man Utd Make Haaland Transfer Call As Five Man City Stars Tipped For Old Trafford Move

According to reports by TEAMtalk on October 4, 2026, Manchester United have been urged to consider a major raid on Manchester City should the reigning Premier League champions suffer severe punishment following their financial rule case.

Former Manchester United player Quinton Fortune has suggested that the Red Devils could target as many as five Manchester City stars if the club is eventually relegated from the Premier League.

Among the players mentioned is Erling Haaland, who has emerged as one of the biggest names that could potentially become available if City are forced into a major squad rebuild.

Manchester City were recently found guilty of financial rule breaches by an Independent Commission covering the period between 2009 and 2018.

The club has strongly denied wrongdoing and has already lodged an appeal against the decision.

If Manchester City fail in their appeal, the club could face severe sanctions, including the possibility of being removed from the Premier League and relegated to the lower divisions.

That possibility has already triggered speculation about the futures of several of City’s leading players, with some of Europe’s biggest clubs expected to monitor the situation closely.

According to Fortune, Manchester United should consider taking advantage of such a situation.

The former United star named Nico O’Reilly, Rayan Cherki, Marc Guehi, Elliot Anderson and Haaland as players who could strengthen the Old Trafford squad.

“Players coming directly from City, I don’t know how United fans would take that!” Fortune said.

“But they have wonderful players. Number one I’d say Nico O’Reilly at left-back is brilliant, he can cover center-back and midfield, similar to John O’Shea.”

Fortune also praised Cherki and highlighted his ability to influence games with the ball.

“Rayan Cherki is fantastic too, what he can do with the ball is so special,” he added.

While Fortune ruled out the possibility of Phil Foden making the controversial move across Manchester because of his strong connection with City, he identified other players who could potentially be welcomed at Old Trafford.

“Marc Guehi at centre-back would be a great addition, and Elliot Anderson would be nice as well,” Fortune said.

The former United player then jokingly added Haaland to his list of potential targets.

“And if there are any leftovers, I’ll take Erling Haaland! I can’t believe I mentioned all those names before Haaland! There might well be quite a few options there.”

Haaland’s potential availability would likely attract interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

TEAMtalk reports that Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are already interested in the Norway international, while Arsenal could also make a move if the opportunity arises.

Haaland has established himself as one of the most prolific strikers in world football since joining Manchester City and remains a major asset for the club.

However, any potential transfer would depend heavily on the outcome of Manchester City’s appeal and the punishment eventually imposed on the club.

Fortune also discussed the possibility of Manchester United being awarded the Premier League title from the 2017/18 season if City’s punishment results in titles being stripped.

Manchester City finished above United that season, with Jose Mourinho’s side ending the campaign as runners-up.

Fortune believes Mourinho would reject a winner’s medal awarded years later.

“I would reject a medal, because if I know it wasn’t won the right way, it wouldn’t feel right,” he said.

He compared the situation to gaining an unfair advantage in sport and insisted that trophies should be earned properly.

“I don’t think Jose Mourinho would accept that medal,” Fortune added.

“Knowing what he’s achieved in football, winning the Champions League with Porto and Inter, success at Real Madrid, he’s done wonders.”

For now, Manchester United’s interest in the City stars remains hypothetical, with no indication that the club has made formal approaches for the players mentioned.
