The 100 million gallons per day (MGD) project will treat municipal wastewater and supply recycled water for industrial purposes.

The project is being implemented in two phases. Under Phase I, 35 MGD of treated wastewater will be supplied for industrial use, while Phase II will add another 65 MGD of capacity.

The groundbreaking for Phase II is also taking place today, with completion targeted within six months.

Upon completion, TP-1 will provide up to 100 MGD of treated industrial process water by 2027, reducing the industrial sector’s reliance on freshwater sources.

The project will convert wastewater into a resource for industrial use and help conserve freshwater from river sources. This will make more freshwater available for drinking and domestic use for Karachi’s residents.

The Karachi Industrial Water Park is being advanced by the Government of Sindh in partnership with public and private sector stakeholders.

The initiative is part of a broader plan focused on sustainable urban development, environmental protection and long-term water security for Karachi.
