Kaizer Chiefs New Striker Returns To Training With Amakhosi Stars

No Break For Chiefs As Naturena Training Resumes — Teuchert Included

Kaizer Chiefs have returned to training during the international break as head coach Fernando Da Cruz and his technical team prepare the squad for the next stage of the 2026/27 campaign.

With several players away on international duty, the break has allowed Chiefs to focus on maintaining fitness levels, working on their tactics and preparing for the demanding fixtures ahead.

Cedric Teuchert was reportedly among the players involved in the latest training session at Naturena, working alongside his teammates as the club continued its preparations.

His presence will be welcomed by Chiefs supporters, particularly as the club continues to assess its attacking options ahead of the return of competitive football.

The German forward was brought in as part of the club’s efforts to strengthen the squad, and fans will be watching closely to see how he fits into Da Cruz’s plans.

The coaching staff also have several other issues to manage during the break, including the fitness of injured players.

Chiefs had played seven Betway Premiership matches before the international break, with the club’s official record showing 12 points from their opening six league games before their meeting with Golden Arrows on September 20.

The pause in domestic action has therefore provided Da Cruz with an opportunity to work closely with the players remaining at Naturena while keeping track of those recovering from injuries.

Goalkeeper Brandon Petersen and attacker Wandile Duba were among the players previously affected by injuries. Petersen was expected to miss around four to six weeks after suffering a medial collateral ligament injury to his left knee, while Duba was facing roughly two weeks out with a hip and groin problem.

The current training period will be important for keeping the available players match-ready while the injured members continue their rehabilitation.

Chiefs will also welcome back players who were involved with their national teams. Five of the club’s young players were part of the South African U20 side that won the 2026 COSAFA U20 Championship in Mozambique and secured a place at next year’s U20 Africa Cup of Nations.

Their return should provide another boost to the club’s development setup.

For Da Cruz, though, the main priority remains preparing the senior team for the challenges ahead.

According to Chiefs’ latest fixture information, their next Betway Premiership match is scheduled for October 17 against Stellenbosch.
