John Boadu’s CV alone dwarfs that of NDC chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia – Dr. Zaato

In an Official Facebook Post shared by Metro TV on 3 October 2026, Dr. Zaato, Senior Fellow at the Africa Policy Lens, strongly advocated for delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to support John Boadu in his bid to become the party’s next National Chairman. Dr. Zaato argued that Boadu’s professional and political credentials far surpass those of his counterpart in the opposition, NDC chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia, making him the more capable leader to steer the NPP forward.

Dr. Zaato stated that “John Boadu’s CV alone dwarfs that of NDC chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia,” emphasizing that Boadu’s extensive experience in party administration, grassroots mobilization, and electoral strategy places him in a unique position to lead the NPP at this critical juncture. His remarks were not only a comparison of qualifications but also a direct endorsement of Boadu’s candidacy in the ongoing NPP national executive elections in Kumasi.

Observers note that Boadu’s track record includes years of service as the NPP’s General Secretary, where he played a central role in organizing campaigns and maintaining party structures across the country. His leadership style has often been described as pragmatic and detail‑oriented, qualities that Dr. Zaato believes are essential for the party’s future success. In contrast, Asiedu Nketia, though widely respected for his communication skills and political resilience, was portrayed by Zaato as lacking the breadth of documented professional achievements that Boadu brings to the table.

The post has generated significant reactions online. Supporters of Boadu welcomed Dr. Zaato’s endorsement, interpreting it as a validation of their belief that he is the right candidate to unify the party and prepare it for future electoral battles. Critics, however, argued that leadership is not solely about CVs but also about charisma, political instincts, and the ability to connect with ordinary members. They cautioned against reducing leadership choices to academic or professional credentials alone.

At its core, Dr. Zaato’s statement was both an endorsement and a challenge. It urged NPP delegates to look beyond rhetoric and consider competence, experience, and proven ability when casting their votes. His words highlighted the broader debate about what qualities matter most in political leadership—formal qualifications or practical political skills.

As the NPP’s national executive elections unfold in Kumasi, the endorsement of John Boadu by figures like Dr. Zaato adds momentum to his campaign, reinforcing the perception that he is a candidate with the credentials to lead the party into the future.
