Iranian army says missile capabilities being enhanced after recent war

Iranian Army spokesperson Brigadier General Mohammad Akrami-Nia announced that Iran plans to increase the range and speed of its missile arsenal based on lessons learned from the recent conflict, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.

According to him, the decision was taken in view of what he described as the presence of potential adversaries at distances of up to 1,000 kilometres.

Akrami-Nia said Iranian missiles used during the recent conflict with the United States had performed effectively, prompting the military to further improve their capabilities.

He said missiles operated by Iran’s ground forces had been used to target military bases in Kuwait, while naval cruise missiles launched from the sea had successfully targeted enemy vessels.

The Iranian Army spokesperson said future upgrades would focus on improving missile speed, range and accuracy.

He added that the modernisation programme had already begun as part of efforts to strengthen Iran’s overall defence capabilities.
