Investigation continues after woman suffers accidental gunshot wound, police say

According to preliminary information from the San Antonio Police Department, police said officers were dispatched to a shooting in progress at about 10:03 p.m. on 10/03 in the 200 block of Scheh.

When officers arrived, they found the woman with an apparent gunshot wound to her upper extremities, police said.

The woman told officers she was manipulating a handgun and accidentally discharged the weapon, according to SAPD.

Police said she was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. The investigation is ongoing, and the information is subject to change.
