Glastonbury 2027 sells out in minutes after releasing most expensive tickets in festival history

The iconic UK music festival is back after a fallow year, meaning there’s plenty of anticipation for its grand return at Worthy Farm from June 23 to 27 next year.

The ticket and coach sale on October 1 sold out in a lightning-fast 30 minutes, and it looks like the general sale today has followed hot on its heels, despite this year’s changes.

First off, there has been a slight tweak to the buying process in which music fans have to enter their registration number before entering the queue, rather than at the end.

This means that fans are given a unique spot in the queue and that doesn’t change if they enter it on different devices or browsers.

More notably, ticket prices have risen again, breaching £400 for the first time in the festival’s history. Made all the more bleak by the fact that the first festival in 1970 cost only £1 (and came with a free pint of milk).

As every year, however, thousands of fans have also been left disappointed after not making it past the two-bar mark in the queue, with their hopes now pinned on resales in April or making another go of it for 2028.

Alternately, you can throw your hat in the ring to be a food vendor or one of the hundreds of volunteers or workers helping out around the festival campsite. Or simply resign yourself to enjoying the highlights on BBC iPlayer.

Now that the vast majority of tickets have been sold, speculation over who the headliners are going to be will no doubt ramp up even further.

Most recently, fans noticed that Sir Rod Stewart had a Glastonbury-shaped hole during his last tour, The Final Encore. He last performed at the festival in 2025 in the coveted Legends slot.

Meanwhile, Oasis also sparked rumours of a potential Glasto return after announcing another tour in 2027, although event organiser Emily Eavis quickly shot this down by declaring: ‘Not this time’.
