Furious Kingi Lectures MP After Ditching Ruto for Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi Movement

Senate Speaker Amason Kingi has criticized Wundanyi MP Danson Mwashako for opting to leave President William Ruto’s political camp and collaborate with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna through the newly formed Linda Mwananchi Movement.

Kingi voiced his disappointment regarding Mwashako’s recent political shift, questioning why he would distance himself from the government to join an opposition group aimed at rallying Kenyans for the upcoming 2027 General Election.

The Senate Speaker warned leaders from the Coast against forsaking government alliances too soon, emphasizing that elected officials should concentrate on securing development initiatives and addressing their constituents’ needs instead of engaging in early political campaigning.

Kingi’s comments came in response to Mwashako’s recent participation in Linda Mwananchi Movement events alongside Sifuna in Taita Taveta County, where Mwashako openly aligned himself with the opposition’s agenda.

During these rallies, Mwashako criticized the Kenya Kwanza administration for failing to fulfill its campaign promises and urged opposition leaders to unite to tackle the economic difficulties faced by Kenyans.

Mwashako’s collaboration with Sifuna has introduced new dynamics to the political landscape along the Coast, where leaders are exploring various alliances and political strategies in the lead-up to the 2027 elections.

Kingi, a former governor of Kilifi, encouraged Coastal lawmakers to focus on development projects and to keep a positive relationship with the national government. He cautioned that abrupt political changes could hinder leaders’ ability to represent their constituents effectively.

In defense of his connection with Linda Mwananchi, Mwashako asserted that his political choices are driven by concerns expressed by his constituents. He has continued to advocate for accountability and economic assistance while collaborating with Sifuna.
