EOCO Finally Tells Ghanaians The Truth About Arrested NPP MP
The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) says Manhyia South Member of Parliament Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah is expected to appear before a weekend court as the agency proceeds with investigations into the case.
According to EOCO, the legislator voluntarily reported to the office at about 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
In a statement issued on Friday night, the agency said investigators were continuing with the necessary processes connected to the case and confirmed that Baffour Awuah was cooperating with them.
EOCO said it was working with the Office of the Attorney-General to have the MP brought before a court, taking into account the constitutional provisions and procedural requirements governing detention and bail.
The agency said the court appearance would provide the appropriate legal framework for addressing the issue of bail while allowing the investigation to continue.
“Suspect Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah is cooperating with the Office to continue with the necessary investigative processes and procedures,” EOCO stated.
The agency also sought to clarify reports circulating in the media about the MP’s alleged bail conditions.
EOCO categorically rejected reports that it had granted Baffour Awuah bail in the sum of GH¢50 million and urged the public not to rely on such reports.
The office maintained that it would continue to conduct the investigation through the appropriate legal and procedural channels.
The development comes amid growing public and political attention surrounding Baffour Awuah’s detention and calls for his rights to be protected throughout the investigative process.
