ECG Announces 8-Hour Maintenance ‘Dumsor’ in Parts of Ghana From October 5 — Affected Areas Below

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced scheduled power interruptions in parts of the Greater Accra Region as it undertakes planned maintenance works and system upgrades.

The exercise is scheduled to begin on Monday, October 5, 2026, and continue through Thursday, October 8, with several communities in the Accra East and Tema areas expected to experience temporary power outages.

According to the announced schedule, most of the affected areas will experience interruptions between 9:00am and 5:00pm, representing an eight-hour period. ECG explained that the maintenance works are necessary to address technical challenges, fix faults and improve the reliability of electricity supply.

The planned interruptions are expected to affect households, businesses, offices and other institutions located within the designated communities. ECG has therefore urged customers in the affected areas to take note of the schedule and make the necessary preparations ahead of the outages.

The power distributor said the exercise forms part of its ongoing maintenance and system improvement programme aimed at strengthening the distribution network and reducing the occurrence of unexpected faults.

ECG has also apologised to customers for the inconvenience the temporary interruptions may cause, while assuring the public that the works are intended to improve service delivery.

Residents who depend on electricity for business operations, water pumping, refrigeration and other essential activities have been encouraged to plan around the scheduled maintenance periods.

The latest announcement adds to a series of planned and emergency maintenance exercises being undertaken by ECG across different parts of the country as the company works to address faults and improve the stability of its distribution network.

Affected customers are advised to monitor ECG’s official updates for any changes to the announced schedule, as the duration of the interruption may vary depending on the specific location and nature of the work being undertaken.
