Driver killed, passenger significantly injured in crash in Bloomfield
A driver has died and a passenger is significantly injured after a crash in Bloomfield early Sunday morning.
While on routine patrol, officers saw a single-vehicle crash on Park Avenue around 1:45 a.m. There was significant damage and police said it suggested the occupants were trapped. Additional crews were called and responded to the area.

Authorities said the two occupants of the vehicle were found to have significant, life-threatening injuries and also needed to be extricated. The passenger was quickly removed and was transported to St. Francis Hospital, investigators said.
A prolonged effort by emergency crews was required to extricate the driver. Police said once the driver was freed, he was transported to Hartford Hospital where he later died. His identity has not yet been released.
The North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction Team responded and is continuing to investigate the crash.
