Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto delivers against the Cincinnati Reds on Sept. 9 at Dodger Stadium. (Robert Gauthier / Los Angeles Times) By Mirjam Swanson p]:text-cms-story-body-color-text”> The Dodgers are better than you. Theyâre smarter than you. Theyâre richer and deeper and more popular than you. You know it, they know it, thereâs no point pretending otherwise.
So, yes, they went into the National League Divisional Series looking past the threadbare Atlanta Braves and thinking about the National League Championship Series.
Your two-time World Series champions with the worldâs best starting pitching rotation and a 1-0 NLDS series lead, thatâs who.

The Dodgers will once again have Mookie Betts batting leadoff in Game 2 of the NLDS against the Atlanta Braves as they face another left-handed starter.
Except the left-hander is not Chris Sale.
Ray Kerr gets the nod to start Game 2 Sunday at Dodger Stadium as the Braves elect to go with a third straight bullpen game. With Atlanta facing the possibility of going down two games in the best-of-five series before returning home for Game 3, Sale starting Sunday seemed on the table. Instead, he will get pushed back to Game 3 on Tuesday and square off against Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
Kerr was the opener in Game 3 of the wild-card series against the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday and pitched into the fourth inning of the Bravesâ 6-2 win.
The Dodgers made one change to their starting lineup from Game 1, inserting Miguel Rojas at third base for Max Muncy. The full lineup:

Beneath those enormous letters, Shohei Ohtani smiled. Who else?
And so dozens of reporters crammed into a cramped room within Dodger Stadium on Friday afternoon, on the eve of the National League Division Series between the Dodgers and the Atlanta Braves, waiting for Ohtani to answer a few versions of âHow are you?â

(Jeff Chiu / AP) By Houston Mitchell p]:text-cms-story-body-color-text”> Hi, and welcome to another edition of Dodgers Dugout. My name is Houston Mitchell. In this grim, brutal, bear of a season for the Dodgers, where nothing seemed to go right and it seemed every player was injured, they won 100 games.

Well, itâs official: The Dodgers wonât win the World Series this season. Why? Because they made a classic blunder on Sunday. Everyone knows the two most classic blunders: 1. (the most famous) Never get involved in a land war in Asia. 2. (only slightly less well-known): Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line.

Of all the heroes in the Dodgersâ 5-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves in their National League Division Series opener Saturday at Dodger Stadium, none was more stunning than the shrugging, somnolent, underachieving right fielder whom Dodger fans have treated like an overpaid outcast.

It was so hot a team that averaged nearly 50,000 fans for occasionally meaningless regular-season games beat the Atlanta Braves 5-3 in its first postseason game before thousands of empty seats â some of which were literally too hot to sit in.

(Eric Thayer / Los Angeles Times) By Maddie Lee p]:text-cms-story-body-color-text”> Dodgers left-hander Tarik Skubal didnât feel the full impact of the triple-digit heat Saturday until he sat in to the dugout after his start.
It wasnât bearing down on him as he settled in early, or retired 15 straight hitters, or labored through a long sixth inning with the game on the line.
