Vorderman is set to be presented with the Siân Phillips Award while Lauren Evans is taking home an award for her contribution to the film I Swear, which cemented her reputation as one of the leading casting directors in Britain.

Lee Walters, Bafta Cymru chair, said the two women have taken "very different paths", but have both "achieved so much and thoroughly deserve to be celebrated".

The awards will be presented at the ICC Wales, in Newport, where Bafta Cymru has been held since 2024.

Vorderman, from Prestatyn, Denbighshire, began her career on the popular quiz show Countdown where she was the numbers expert and co-presenter for more than two decades.

She said it was one of her proudest achievements and she became a household name across Britain.

The 65-year-old has also chaired a UK government taskforce on maths education and founded an online learning resource designed to build children's confidence.

She has also used her platform to champion accessible education for all and she was awarded an MBE for services to broadcasting in 2000.

Former Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies took the Siân Phillips award last year.

Evans, from Hendy, Carmarthenshire, will be awarded the Outstanding Contribution to Craft award after working on a range of productions including Game of Thrones, King Lear and The Danish Girl.

In recent years, she has worked on Sex Education, Lost Boys and I Swear which was nominated for six Bafta awards earlier this year.

Evans ended up winning the award for Best Casting saying she was "incredibly proud" to represent Welsh voices at the 2026 ceremony.

She said she was honoured to be recognised at the Bafta Cymru awards and that she wants to "keep elevating our Welsh creatives and our Welsh talent".

She added: "It's not as much of a closed industry as it was, but there is still so much more work to be done."

The awards consist of 17 categories this year, with actors such as Eve Myles and Matthew Rhys being nominated.

Feature film Madfabulous – which tells the story of an eccentric 19th Century Welsh aristocrat – leads the way at this year's Bafta Cymru awards with six nominations.

It's a Sin actor Callum Scott Howells, who stars as Henry Paget in Madfabulous, previously said it was a "genuine honour" to portray the fifth Marquess of Anglesey.

Walters congratulated the nominees last month and said "each is a testament to the creativity, skill and dedication of the people working across Wales' screen industries, both in front of and behind the camera".
