Sensitising Children to Cleanliness Can Leave Lasting Impact on Society: Sant Seechewal

Rajya Sabha Member and environmentalist Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal on Thursday participated in a cleanliness drive organised by Eldeco Greens Society at its campus and stressed the importance of involving children and youth in efforts to build a cleaner and greener society.

Addressing residents and participants, Seechewal appreciated the community’s collective efforts, particularly the involvement of children in activities and competitions organised around the theme of a ‘Swachh Bharat’.

He said sensitising young minds towards cleanliness and environmental responsibility at an early age can have a lasting impact on society. Engaging children in such initiatives, he said, helps develop a sense of responsibility towards maintaining clean surroundings and protecting the environment.

Before the address, residents and students took out a Swachhata Rally within the campus and subsequently participated in a cleanliness drive covering the society premises. Seechewal lauded the voluntary participation of residents, saying community ownership of local surroundings can contribute significantly towards creating a cleaner and healthier environment.

During the programme, the Rajya Sabha member distributed prizes to students who performed well in various competitions organised as part of the Swachhata Abhiyan.

Emphasising the role of youth in environmental initiatives, Seechewal said educating and sensitising students about cleanliness is important as they will play a key role in building a sustainable society in the future.

He also administered a cleanliness pledge to the participants, urging them to keep their surroundings clean and spread awareness about the importance of cleanliness in the wider community.
