Section 144 imposed in southern KP districts over security concerns
Section 144 has been imposed in several areas of southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to security concerns, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday.
According to district administrations, restrictions have been imposed in Lower South Waziristan, Upper South Waziristan, Dera Ismail Khan and Tank.
In Lower South Waziristan, the movement of loader rickshaws, single- and double-cabin cargo vehicles, Shehzore, Mazda, Suzuki loaders and dumpers has been banned in Wana and Azam Warsak.
The restrictions will remain in place from 9 pm on October 1 to 9 pm on October 10.
In Upper South Waziristan, similar restrictions on loader rickshaws, cargo vehicles, Shehzore, Mazda and Suzuki loaders, tractors with trailers and dumpers will remain effective from October 3 to October 5.
In Dera Ismail Khan, movement has been restricted on Tank Road, Kulachi, Hathala, Kot Atal, Garh Abdullah and several link roads. The restrictions will remain in force from 6 am to 6 pm from October 4 to October 6.
Pota Hathala Bazaar will also remain closed during this period.
In Tank district, restrictions have been placed on the movement of people, passenger and cargo vehicles and motorcycles on various routes from 9 pm on October 3 until noon on October 5.
Emergency movement by law-enforcement agencies, emergency services and security forces, where authorised, will remain exempt from the restrictions.
Authorities warned that violators of Section 144 would face legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
