RIP|| SA Woman Who Married a Foreign National Found Killed Allegedly By Him

Rustenburg — The community of Platinum Village in Rustenburg has been left in shock and mourning following the tragic death of 47-year-old Irene Atlholang Vetshe, who was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband at their family home on Tuesday, 29 September 2026.

According to reports, the fatal incident occurred during an altercation between the couple while their children were inside the house. The exact circumstances that led to the disagreement have not yet been fully disclosed. However, the confrontation allegedly escalated, resulting in Vetshe sustaining fatal stab wounds.

Emergency services were reportedly called to the scene, but Vetshe could not be saved and was declared dead at the residence. Her death has devastated relatives, neighbours and members of the wider community, particularly because three children have now been left without their mother.

The husband, who is reportedly believed to be a foreign national, allegedly fled the scene following the stabbing. Law-enforcement authorities subsequently launched a search for him.

Police later arrested the suspect in Plastic View on Wednesday, a day after the incident. He was taken into custody in connection with Vetshe’s death and was subsequently charged with murder.

The suspect appeared before the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 1 October 2026, where he formally faced the murder charge.
