The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has forecast light morning rains in parts of the Coast and northern Kenya on Saturday, October 3, with sunny intervals expected to dominate much of the country during the day.
According to the 24-hour weather forecast issued by KMD on Friday evening, Mombasa and Kwale are expected to experience sunny intervals in the morning, with light showers likely over a few places before conditions improve in the afternoon.
Lamu will also have sunny intervals in the morning, accompanied by light showers over a few areas, before turning mainly sunny later in the day.
In Marsabit, sunny intervals are expected during the morning, although light rains are likely over a few places, particularly Moyale. The county is forecast to remain generally sunny in the afternoon.
Trans Nzoia is expected to have sunny intervals in the morning, followed by sunny conditions in the afternoon, with a possibility of light showers and thunderstorms over a few places.
Across much of the rest of the country, the forecast points to mainly sunny intervals during both morning and afternoon hours. This includes Nairobi, the central counties, western Kenya, the Rift Valley, northeastern Kenya and much of the southeastern region.
Temperatures are expected to remain relatively high in some northern and eastern counties. Mandera could record a maximum of 37°C, while Turkana and Wajir may reach 37°C and 35°C respectively. Garissa is expected to hit 35°C, while Tana River could record 32°C.
Strong southerly to southeasterly winds exceeding 25 knots are expected in parts of Turkana, Samburu, Marsabit and Isiolo counties.
