British rapper Stefflon Don recently shared a poignant tribute to Zimbabwean tycoon Wicknell Chivayo following his tragic death in a helicopter crash. However, her Instagram message sparked a wave of curiosity among Zimbabweans, with many wondering if she was aware that Chivayo’s wife, Lucy, also lost her life in the same accident. The online community was split; some fans defended Stefflon Don’s heartfelt message, while others pointed out that she did mention Lucy, albeit briefly.

Chivayo, who was set to celebrate his 46th birthday in November, and his wife tragically died when their helicopter went down near Marondera on the evening of September 30, 2026. The aircraft crashed at Kudenga Farm around 5 p.m. as they were en route to Harare.

In her tribute, Stefflon Don, who had shared a meal with Chivayo in Dubai just a month prior, expressed her sorrow on Instagram. “My dear friend Wicknell… this one hurts deeply. My heart goes out to you, Lucy, and your beautiful family. I am so incredibly sorry,” she wrote, describing him as “one of the kindest and most generous people I knew,” emphasizing his ability to make others feel welcomed and appreciated.

While she did mention Lucy at the beginning of her post, the focus remained largely on Chivayo, leading some readers to question whether she was fully aware of Lucy’s passing. One Twitter user, @Kupangende, shared a screenshot of the tribute, asking in Shona if the artist knew that Lucy was also gone.

The tribute elicited a variety of reactions, with some users questioning Stefflon Don’s awareness of the situation. One commenter, @MissFidibo, asked, “Does she not know that the wife also passed away?”
