Edwin Sifuna Wins a New Title in Mt Kenya as Pauline Njoroge Shares Post
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna was among prominent political leaders who travelled to Kirinyaga County on Saturday, October 3, for the burial of Mwalimu Jackson Karua, the father of People’s Liberation Party leader Martha Karua.
The funeral at Mugumo Primary School in Gichugu brought together leaders from different political formations, including retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Jubilee Party leader Fred Matiang’i, Siaya Governor James Orengo and other political figures.
Sifuna also addressed mourners during the gathering, where he challenged Mt Kenya leaders and residents to help settle the question of who should carry the opposition presidential ticket in the 2027 General Election.
His presence in the region attracted attention online, with political commentator Pauline Njoroge appearing to jokingly welcome him to Mt Kenya.
Sharing a photo of Sifuna and former President Uhuru Kenyatta, Njoroge wrote in Kikuyu: “Gùkù kìrìma andù maraiga nìmonete a brand new kamwana, wìtagwo Edwin Sifuna .”
The playful message can be understood as saying that people from the mountain have seen a “brand new son” called Edwin Sifuna.
Njoroge’s post came on a day when Sifuna was visibly involved in political discussions in the region, making his Kirinyaga appearance one of the notable moments from the funeral.
The gathering also featured remarks from Uhuru, who spoke about Kenya’s political direction and told Mt Kenya residents not to repeat what he described as past mistakes.
