Uganda Advances Preparations for Malaba–Kampala SGR as European Rail Technology Is Proposed

Uganda is moving to adopt European train control and signalling technology for the Malaba–Kampala Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), as preparations for construction of the long-awaited railway project continue.State Minister for Works and Transport Fred Byamukama told Parliament on Thursday that technical proposals for the railway systems had been submitted, including the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) and European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 2.
