Two accused gunned down, eight arrested in Lahore CCD encounters

Two accused were killed and seven arrested in different encounters with Crime Control Department (CCD) police in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

The first police encounter took place in the Kahna area of Lahore, in which two arrested accused were killed. The dead accused were later identified as Rana Jamshed and Awais. 

The CCD team was taking the accused for recovery when their armed colleagues attacked the police team near Kahna in a bid to free them from police custody.

During the exchange of fire, the accused received bullets and became seriously injured. Later, both accused died on the way to the hospital while their colleagues escaped from the scene, taking advantage of darkness.

CCD team shifted the dead bodies of the accused to the mortuary for post-mortem. Police said that the dead accused were involved in more than a dozen criminal cases.

The second police encounter took place in the Koral area under the jurisdiction of Gujjarpura Police Station in Lahore.

Police signalled two people who were riding a motorcycle to stop but they opened fire on the police team.

During the exchange of fire, one dacoit became seriously injured while his other colleagues escaped from the scene.

The arrested injured dacoit was identified as Ataullah. Later, the CCD team shifted the injured dacoit to hospital, where his condition is out of danger.

The arrested accused is involved in more than 50 criminal cases.

In a grand operation against proclaimed offenders, Dolphin Police arrested 5 proclaimed offenders. These accused were arrested in Jatti Umrah, Kharak Nullah, Mughalpura and Jeddah Chowk areas of Lahore.

Several cases were filed against them at Police Station Khanewal, Gujranwala, Iqbal Town, Chung, Kahna and Civil Lines.

A spokesman of Dolphin Police said that the accused went into hiding for the last two years.

SP Dolphin Bilal Ahmad said that arrested accused Sabar, Tauqir and Sohail were handed over to the relevant police stations. 

Police arrested two accused for supplying kites in Data Darbar and Shahdara Begum Kot areas. 

In a secret operation, Data Darbar police arrested accused Aqeel and recovered 550 kites and banned string from his possession.

Superintendent of Police Arshad Hayat Kang said that despite a complete ban on kite selling and manufacturing, several accused were supplying kites in different areas of Lahore.

The SP lauded the police teams of Data Darbar and Incharge Police Chowki Begum for conducting a successful operation.

SP City Arshad Arshad Hayat Kang said that the crackdown against the people involved in selling and manufacturing kites will continue in the city.
