“They Are Looking for a Way to Send Peter Obi Out of the 2027 Presidential Race” — Primate Ayodele

According to a report on a recent statement by Primate Elijah Ayodele on October 2, 2026, the cleric has raised concerns over alleged efforts to frustrate Peter Obi’s political ambitions ahead of the 2027 presidential election, claiming that some people are looking for a way to prevent the former Anambra State governor from remaining in the race.

Ayodele made the remark while discussing the political developments surrounding Obi and the opposition ahead of the 2027 election. He said there were attempts to create difficulties for the presidential hopeful and suggested that the situation should be closely monitored.

“They are looking for a way to send Obi out of the presidential race. They want to do something to frustrate him,” Ayodele said.

Obi, who contested the 2023 presidential election under the Labour Party, has since moved into a new political alignment and is expected to contest the next presidential election under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). Reports have identified him as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 contest.

Ayodele’s warning is also connected to other recent comments he has made about Obi’s political future. In September, the cleric warned Obi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to be particularly conscious of their security, alleging that unnamed individuals were looking for means to eliminate them. Ayodele did not identify any person, political party or organisation as being responsible for the alleged threat.

The cleric had previously spoken about the challenges facing Obi ahead of the 2027 election. In an earlier prediction, he said several forces would rise against the former Anambra governor and that his political efforts could face difficulties.
