She Left To Buy Campaign Cars In China, She Ended Up Dead At KATH—Inside The Final Days Of Beatrice
The campaign team of the late NPP parliamentary aspirant for Asante Mampong, Beatrice Owarewa Siaw, has been left devastated by her sudden death. The team had believed she was preparing to travel to China, only to later receive news that she had passed away.
Her campaign manager, Yaw Takyie, has spoken emotionally about the unexpected loss, recalling that Beatrice Siaw had been energetic and making plans just days earlier. She had travelled to Mampong to meet her campaign team ahead of a planned membership registration and dues payment exercise for the party.
However, the exercise was delayed after the process encountered difficulties. Madam Siaw, who was known for her energetic approach and substantial spending on activities within the constituency, then decided to use the unexpected free time for another purpose.
She informed her team that she intended to travel to China to acquire vehicles for her campaign.
Yaw Takyie recalled that she had met the campaign team in Mampong to prepare for the membership registration and dues payment exercise, but after the process was delayed, she told them about her plans to travel to China to purchase cars for the campaign.
That meeting turned out to be the last time members of the team saw her. They left believing their campaign leader was preparing for an overseas trip to strengthen her political campaign, unaware that they had seen her for the final time.
News later emerged that Beatrice Siaw had died at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. The woman who had claimed to have invested more than GH¢40 billion of her personal resources into projects in Mampong was suddenly gone. Her reported contributions included the construction of a VVIP ward at Mampong Government Hospital as well as support for schools and the Municipal Assembly.
Beatrice Siaw was a prominent figure in Asante Mampong politics and served as a member of the NPP Council of Patrons. She was also known for emphasising that her investments in the constituency were intended to create an impact rather than serve purely political interests.
Her unexpected death has plunged her campaign team, supporters and residents of the Asante Mampong constituency into mourning. A woman who left with plans to travel abroad to support her political ambitions never returned.
What began as preparations for a campaign-related trip to China ultimately ended in tragedy at KATH.
