SHA Message To All Kenyans

SHA Message To All Kenyans

The Social Health Authority (SHA) has informed selected Level 4 healthcare facilities that the dates for verifying and reviewing outstanding claims inherited from the former National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) have been changed.

In a notice issued on Monday, September 28, 2026, SHA stated that the timetable provided in an earlier communication had been revised. The exercise concerns pending claims worth KSh10 million and above, following an initial notice issued on September 18.

Healthcare facilities affected by the changes have been asked to check the updated timetable to establish their new verification dates. They have also been instructed to ensure that all documents supporting their outstanding claims are available when SHA officials visit to conduct the verification process.

According to the authority, an updated list of the affected facilities and the revised schedule has been made available on its official website. Healthcare providers can therefore consult the information to determine when they are expected to participate in the exercise.

The claims under review originate from the period when NHIF was still responsible for managing Kenya’s public health insurance system. Following the transition to SHA and the implementation of the new health insurance framework, the authority inherited responsibility for addressing outstanding claims and other administrative matters associated with the previous system.

Facilities included in the revised programme have been encouraged to review the latest schedule and organise the necessary documentation before their respective verification dates.

SHA has also provided a contact channel for healthcare providers that require clarification about the exercise. Facilities seeking additional information can contact the Director of Benefits and Claims through the email address provided in the official notice, [email protected].

The communication was signed by Dr Mercy Mwangangi, CBS, the Chief Executive Officer of the Social Health Authority.

The revised timetable forms part of SHA’s broader efforts to review and resolve outstanding claims inherited from NHIF following the transition to the new health insurance system.

For the affected healthcare facilities, checking the revised dates and ensuring that all relevant records are complete and readily available will be important as the verification exercise proceeds.
