Rochester, MN (RochesterNow)- An equipment failure was suspected of causing a multi-vehicle crash in rural southeast Rochester Thursday night.

That’s according to Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Malinda Hanson, who says the crash occurred around 7:20 p.m.
Three vehicles were involved in the crash.
First responders were called to the scene in the 3500 block of Marion Rd. SE.
Hanson said the driver of a northbound vehicle appeared to have lost control due to an equipment failure, which caused the vehicle to enter the oncoming traffic lane.
The driver of a southbound vehicle swerved to try and avoid a collision, but was swiped by the northbound vehicle. That caused the southbound vehicle to roll, according to the sheriff’s office.
Hanson said the northbound vehicle continued moving after the collision and struck another southbound vehicle.
Multiple occupants from multiple vehicles were transported from the scene by ambulance, according to Hanson. Their injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
The number of people transported and their names have not been released.
Hanson anticipates more information about the crash to become available by early next week.
