Meeting with government delegation, opposition leaders set a condition for meeting with Imran Khan to advance negotiations

Islamabad: A crucial meeting between the opposition and government delegations has commenced in the Speaker’s Chamber to resolve political issues through dialogue.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq welcomed the opposition delegation upon their arrival at the Speaker’s Chamber. The opposition is represented by Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, Barrister Gohar, Asad Qaiser, Aamir Dogar, and Salman Akram Raja, while the government delegation includes Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Sherry Rehman, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, and Talal Chaudhry. Additionally, Aijaz Jakhrani, Naveed Qamar, Rana Sanaullah, and Amir Muqam are part of the government delegation.

According to sources, the meeting will review the overall situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and discuss the postponement of the long march. Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry stated that the dialogue has just begun; both sides agree on reaching a conclusion today, and further details should await the outcome.

Salman Akram Raja stated that they would advocate for justice, noting that justice has completely vanished. He emphasized the need for a meeting and consultation with the PTI leadership; if this meeting takes place, the matter will progress, otherwise, the status quo will remain. He reiterated the demand for justice and the release of the PTI leadership.

Asad Qaiser stated that they seek a meeting with the ‘Founder’ (Imran Khan) to finalize the agenda. He noted that they would meet the Founder and proceed based on those discussions. While the issue regarding Imran Khan’s sisters would be addressed, the meeting with the Founder remains the top priority; their primary demand is to be allowed to meet their leader. Aamir Dogar stated that he has always advocated for meetings and negotiations; political matters should not be allowed to escalate into confrontation, and they do not wish for any clash or conflict with state institutions.

Allama Nasir Abbas remarked that he would raise the issue of a meeting between Mahmood Achakzai and PTI founder Imran Khan, noting that matters cannot be resolved without meeting the founder. He added that certain conditions should be established regarding these negotiations, emphasizing that a meeting with the PTI founder is the simplest solution to the issues at hand.
