Pakistan to now face either Japan or China in bronze-medal match

Iran defeated Pakistan 3-0 in the men’s volleyball semi-final at the Asian Games, ending Pakistan’s hopes of reaching the final.

Iran dominated the contest and secured a comfortable straight-sets victory over Pakistan in the semi-final.

Following the defeat, Pakistan will compete for the bronze medal.

Pakistan will face either Japan or China in the bronze-medal match, with the opponent to be determined by the outcome of the other semi-final.

Earlier, Pakistan produced a landmark performance, defeating India 3-0 in the men’s volleyball quarter-final to reach the semi-finals. The victory came as Pakistan’s men’s squash team also advanced to the last four after beating South Korea.

Pakistan defeated India 25-19, 25-23 and 25-18 to complete a straight-sets victory in the quarter-final. The result marked Pakistan’s first Asian Games men’s volleyball semi-final appearance since 1962.

Pakistan established control early in the match, taking the opening set 25-19. The team maintained its momentum in the second set, edging India 25-23 before closing out the contest with an 25-18 win in the third.
