Opposition expands talks agenda as govt and opposition prepare for negotiations today
The opposition has formed a six-member negotiating committee after the government took the lead in initiating talks, setting the stage for formal negotiations between the two sides today.
The meeting is scheduled for 12pm in the National Assembly speaker’s office, with the opposition also expanding its agenda and preparing new groundwork for the discussions.
Sources said the opposition’s six-member negotiating committee includes Opposition Leader in the Senate Raja Nasir Abbas, who will be joined by five other members. It also includes PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Asad Qaiser, along with Secretary General Salman Akram Raja and Chief Whip Aamir Dogar.
Haleem Adil Sheikh will also serve as a member of the opposition’s negotiating committee, completing the six-member team.
The formation of the opposition committee follows the government’s move to establish its own negotiating team, with both sides now preparing to formally engage in dialogue.
Sources said the opposition has also expanded its agenda for talks with the government, indicating that the discussions could cover a broader range of issues.
The opposition is simultaneously preparing new groundwork for the negotiations, with further consultations expected as the two sides move toward formal talks.
