Bad News To All Employed Teachers As TSC Comes Up With New Proposal That Could Affect Them Directly

Teachers are among the civil servants who are poorly remunerated in the country. With this low pay, most of them have invested into various businesses to boost their financial muscle. They have invested most of their leisure time in running businesses and in farming that have greatly boosted their pockets. However, the already employed teachers are about to suffer the major blow in their side hustles as the tsc has announced new proposed laws.

A proposed bill and new regulations in Kenya seek to prohibit public school teachers under the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) from engaging in any other gainful employment or side businesses. Details of the proposed ban include the rule on proposed legal measures and TSC directives which will bar educators from managing external commercial activities while in active employment. Also, the restrictions target common entrepreneurial activities such as running local shops (dukas), barbershops (kinyozi), or transport operations (boda boda). If passed, the tutors will suffer more as most depend on this to expand their wealth.
