Babu Owino Raises Concern Over Alleged Poorly Cooked Food in Public Schools Across Nairobi

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has raised concern over complaints from parents across Nairobi over allegedly poorly cooked meals being served to children in various public schools.

Taking to his X account, the vocal MP claimed that some parents had complained that their children were being served raw and poorly cooked chapatis in public schools.

He raised concern that the food might affect the childrens’ health.

“This is unacceptable. Our children deserve safe, nutritious and properly prepared meals. We do not want to lose our children to preventable health problems,” Babu stated.

He urged Nairobi residents to remain patient, saying he was aware of the challenges being faced by parents and students.

Babu further outlined his plans for the school feeding programme if he is elected governor in 2027 General Election, promising to ensure children receive well-cooked, nutritious and balanced meals in schools.

He also said the programme would be extended to high schools across Nairobi, with parents not required to pay for the meals.

“No parent will pay a single shilling. The meals will be completely free. Our children come first,” he said.
