Oct 1, 2026 | 12:30 PM Oct 1 (Reuters) â Ukraine has deployed its FP-7 tactical ballistic missile in combat for the first time, âPresident Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Thursday.
âUkrainian âtactical ballistic missile FP-7. First combat use,â Zelenskiy wrote on Telegram. âThank you for the result. Next â production.â
He did not say where the âFP-7 âhad been used â in combat or against â what target.
Russia frequently uses ballistic missiles in strikes on Ukrainian targets, and Ukraine has viewed development of its âown tactical ballistic missiles as an important element in ensuring its defence â needs.
Zelenskiy praised the test â results of tactical ballistic missiles âearlier this year, saying they showed good âpotential for their use by the âmilitary.
Ukrainian military analysts describe the FP-7 as a short-range missile with a range of about 200 km (125 miles).
The missileâs â manufacturer, Fire Point, says it is being developed as a ballistic interceptor within the European â missile âdefence programme Freyja launched this â year.
Ukraine wants a prototype for âthe âFreyja European anti-ballistic system to âbe ready â in the first half of next year, Davyd Aloian, deputy secretary of Ukraineâs National Security and Defence Council said in July.
