Skeem Saam Actress Makgofe Moagi Reportedly Opens Case Against Husband Mandla Mazibuko

Skeem Saam actress Makgofe Moagi has reportedly opened a domestic violence case against her husband, Mandla Mazibuko, after an alleged altercation at their home on 11 September 2026. The reported incident occurred after Moagi informed Mazibuko that she intended to end their marriage.

An unnamed source claimed that the Limpopo-born actress had already consulted a lawyer about pursuing a divorce before Mazibuko returned home that day. According to the source, tensions escalated after she disclosed her plans. Mazibuko allegedly pushed Moagi forcefully before striking her several times in the solar plexus.

Details contained in a police statement reviewed by Africa Daily broadly support the reported sequence of events. “The complainant alleges that on 2026-09-11 at 12:00, her husband became violent after she said that she went to see a lawyer regarding divorcing him. She alleged that her husband forcefully pushed her and beat her using his fist and also damaged the main bedroom door, which will cost about R30,000 to repair,” the statement read.

After the alleged confrontation, Moagi reportedly contacted some of her close friends, who encouraged her to report the matter to the police. She subsequently opened a case at Midrand Police Station. Mazibuko was arrested and detained before the matter proceeded through the legal system.

Gauteng police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko confirmed that a case had been registered and provided details about the proceedings.

“According to the case number provided, a case of common assault under the Domestic Violence Act and malicious damage to property was opened at Midrand Police Station and subsequently transferred to Olievenhoutbosch Police Station for further investigation. The suspect was arrested and appeared before the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on 13 September 2026, where the suspect was released on bail. The matter was postponed to 22 October 2026,” she said.

Moagi, who is best known for portraying Charity Mabu on Skeem Saam and previously presenting the Motswako programme on SABC 2, has not publicly discussed the allegations in detail. When approached for comment, she said, “No comment as this matter is sub judice.”

Mazibuko also declined to comment, referring to the ongoing court proceedings. The allegations have therefore not been determined by the court, and the case remains active. The matter is scheduled to return to court on 22 October 2026, when further proceedings are expected.
