“I just wanted to sit properly Everything is blown out of proportion” –Wendy on viral Lasmid video

According to a report by Ghanaweb on Thursday, Oct 1, 2026, Wendy Shay has explained why she moved Lasmid’s hand from her thigh in a video that has drawn wide attention online, saying the moment has been misread.

The clip, filmed during a video shoot, shows the two musicians seated on the same chair. Lasmid appears to place his hand on her thigh, and she gently moves it away. The footage spread quickly on social media, and some users criticised her reaction as unnecessary.

Responding in an interview with DJ Slim, excerpts of which were shared on X, the singer said her actions had nothing to do with discomfort around Lasmid. She said she was adjusting her position because she was not comfortable on the chair and wanted to sit properly so the photograph would come out well.

Wendy Shay described Lasmid as a close colleague with whom she has built a strong rapport over the years. That familiarity, she explained, is exactly why she felt free to move his hand without hesitation. Without such a bond, she suggested, she would not have done it so openly.

She also said she would never do anything to damage his reputation, and described their relationship as one of good chemistry and mutual respect. The singer urged social media users to stop reading hidden meanings into the incident and expressed surprise that viewers could not see what she says was plain in the video. In her words, everything has been “blown out of proportion.”

The clarification adds her own account to a video that had so far been interpreted largely by commentators. Neither the criticism nor the reaction to her explanation has slowed the conversation, with social media users continuing to weigh in on the exchange.
