The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has secured scholarship opportunities for Ghanaian students to acquire professional digital skills and career development training.
The opportunity follows a partnership between NUGS and the Bechem Humanitarian Network (BHN e.V.), a Germany-based non-profit organisation.
Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two organisations, eligible Ghanaian learners will receive free access to professional certification programmes through educational platforms including DataCamp, Coursera and Google Career Launchpad.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, September 1, NUGS said beneficiaries would have access to professional learning and certification programmes offered by global companies and institutions such as Google, Microsoft, IBM, Meta and Cisco.
“The partnership establishes a framework through which BHN e. V. will award scholarships to eligible Ghanaian learners, particularly students, enabling them to enroll free of charge in professional certification programmes delivered through its educational and learning partners,” the statement said.
The programmes cover several high-demand and emerging fields, including Data Science and Analytics, Cybersecurity, IT Support, Project and Programme Management, User Experience (UX) Design and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Other areas include Digital Marketing and E-Commerce, Cloud and Digital Infrastructure, Software Development, Software Engineering, IT Automation, Business Analytics and Social Media Marketing.
NUGS said the programmes are intended to complement students’ academic studies with practical and industry-relevant skills to improve their employability, entrepreneurial capacity and professional development.
The union urged Ghanaian students to take advantage of the opportunity, particularly as technology and practical skills continue to shape the future of work.
The union said the partnership forms part of its commitment to building opportunities for students and contributing to the development of a skilled, innovative and globally competitive Ghanaian youth population.
