Denise Owusu-Ansah displaying Otumfuo’s multiple-view portrait painting
A Ghanaian artist based in the United States, Denise Owusu-Ansah, popularly known as Paa Kwaku from Asante Bekwai, has honoured the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, with a remarkable multiple-view portrait painting.
The artwork, unveiled in the United States, has been described as a creative tribute to the Asantehene, blending innovation with cultural reverence. Through his talent and dedication to his craft, Denise continues to showcase the creativity and rich heritage of Asante Bekwai on the international stage.
The presentation was marked by a rare and touching gesture from the Asantehene. Onlookers noted that it is uncommon to see Otumfuo place his hands three times on one head to offer blessings.
“The King must have been touched by the present and the guy is indeed blessed! Did you see the King bow when the guy mentioned that he had made the Ashanti kingship beautiful? That’s the respect he has for the throne,” Chairman Joeba wrote on X.
The moment has since been described by many as a sign of deep appreciation and royal blessing for the artist’s work.
