The Kumasi Evangel Choir, a choral group in the Ashanti Region, has donated GH¢21,000 to support cancer care for children at the Paediatric Oncology Unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

The donation fulfils a pledge made during the group’s recent “Total Praise Concert” held in Kumasi, where funds were raised to support children living with cancer and improve access to treatment.

According to the group, the concert generated GH¢32,000, with the proceeds dedicated to supporting paediatric cancer care.

“We are also deeply grateful to our patron, Nana Afia Achiaa Deiwaa, Queenmother of Asanteman in Sweden, whose generous contribution of an additional GH¢11,000 helped facilitate the discharge of patients who were unable to settle their medical bills,” the group said.

The Kumasi Evangel Choir said the gesture forms part of its commitment to giving back to society and supporting vulnerable groups through its music ministry.

The group expressed appreciation to patrons, sponsors, partners, supporters and fans whose contributions helped make the initiative possible.

“Every ticket purchased, every donation made, and every act of support contributed to bringing hope and relief to children and families in need,” it added.

The Paediatric Oncology Unit at KATH provides specialised care for children diagnosed with cancer, with support from individuals, organisations and development partners often helping to address treatment-related challenges faced by families.
