Business mogul Lord Ibrahim Sani has announced his intention to contest Ghana’s next presidential election as an independent candidate under a newly established youth-led political movement, the Rising Generation Movement (RGM).

The announcement positions the entrepreneur as the latest entrant into Ghana’s political landscape, with a campaign centred on youth empowerment, clean governance and restoring public confidence in leadership.

According to Sani, the Rising Generation Movement is not being launched as a conventional political party but as a nationwide movement aimed at mobilising young people and ordinary Ghanaians around a shared vision for national transformation.

“Our mission is to restore trust in leadership, empower the youth, and build a Ghana that works for everyone through practical policies, clean governance and grassroots energy,” he said.

He explained that the movement seeks to provide a credible alternative to traditional politics by promoting issue-based leadership, accountability and citizen participation.

Sani said Ghana’s growing youthful population deserves greater representation in decision-making and pledged to champion policies that create jobs, support entrepreneurship, improve education and strengthen public institutions.

He added that the RGM would build its support from the grassroots, encouraging citizens from diverse backgrounds to contribute to shaping the country’s future.

The movement is expected to begin nationwide engagements in the coming months as it rolls out its policy agenda and mobilises supporters ahead of the presidential election.
