The New Patriotic Party’s United States Branch (NPP-USA) is set for a defining moment as delegates from across the United States converge on Westborough, Massachusetts, from 24-26 July 2026, to elect a new national executive team that will steer the affairs of the branch and help shape the party’s road to victory in Ghana’s 2028 general elections.
Held under the theme, “Rooted in the Values of Our Founders, Rising to Secure Ghana’s Future,” the conference is expected to be more than just a leadership contest. It will serve as a strategic platform for rebuilding party structures, strengthening grassroots mobilisation, and repositioning the diaspora wing to play a more influential role in the NPP’s quest to reclaim power.
According to a statement issued by the Communication and Media Relations Committee of the NPP Massachusetts Chapter, the host chapter has completed preparations to welcome delegates for what is expected to be one of the most consequential gatherings in the history of the NPP-USA.
At the heart of the conference will be the fiercely anticipated race for Branch Chairperson, where Ing. Janis Asare-Bediako, Chairperson of the Washington Metro Chapter, will square off against Mr. James Owusu, the current First Vice Chairman of NPP-USA.
Delegates will also elect a full slate of national executives who will be tasked with strengthening party structures, deepening unity across chapters, and providing strategic leadership ahead of the next electoral cycle.
The conference will be hosted under the leadership of NPP-USA Branch Chairperson Obaa Yaa Amponsah Frimpong, with the Massachusetts Chapter, led by Louis Amoako Mensah, serving as host.
The event is expected to feature addresses from some of the party’s top national figures, including Acting National Chairman Danquah Smith Buttey, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, and Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, Chief of Staff at the Office of the NPP Flagbearer.
The biggest attraction, however, will be the keynote address by the NPP’s 2028 presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who is expected to rally supporters behind a renewed vision for the party and outline the path toward recapturing political power in 2028.
Beyond electing new leaders, delegates are expected to adopt resolutions aimed at strengthening collaboration between the diaspora branch and the party’s national leadership, expanding the influence of NPP-USA, and reinforcing the branch’s contribution to the party’s political fortunes.
With leadership renewal, party reorganization and the 2028 elections firmly in focus, the Massachusetts conference is expected to set the tone for the next chapter of the NPP-USA and its role in the party’s national comeback strategy.
