Sevilla sign Ghana teenager Abrokwa in historic move

The 18-year-old winger has signed a three-year deal at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán and becomes both the first Ghanaian in Sevilla’s history and the first to join the Andalusian club directly from a Ghana-based side.

Spanish La Liga side Sevilla have completed the signing of 18-year-old Ghanaian winger Emmanuel Abrokwa from Ghana Division One club Adabraka Elders on a three-year deal running until June 2029.

The transfer will make Abrokwa the first Ghanaian player in Sevilla’s history and the first Ghanaian to join the Andalusian club directly from a Ghana-based side.

The winger began his football journey with Peace Boys FC before making the switch to Adabraka Elders, where his performances quickly attracted attention from a number of European scouts.

He is a direct and pacey wide player with strong close control, dribbling, and shooting ability.

The deal was negotiated by his representatives, Daniel Boifio Junior and Jorge Garcia of SBE Management, who worked with Adabraka Elders and Sevilla’s sporting department to finalise the terms of both the transfer and Abrokwa’s personal contract.

Sevilla, seven-time UEFA Europa League winners, are in a phase of squad reconstruction after a difficult 2025/26 campaign that saw them finish 13th in La Liga and miss out on European qualification for the second time in three seasons.

The club’s recent recruitment strategy has leaned heavily on identifying and integrating young talent, and Abrokwa fits that model as a long-term project signing rather than an immediate first-team acquisition.

The 18-year-old is expected to join up with Sevilla’s squad in the coming weeks as pre-season begins at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. He is expected to join Sevilla’s Juvenil A (U-19) side as he adapts to Spanish football.
